Stage Four- Viana do Castelo to Âncora, 12 miles

HUNTING ARROWS

Yellow arrows, along with images of scallop shells mark the route for pilgrims walking to Santiago de Compostela along all the different Camino routes. They’re painted on trees, pavement, buildings and walls. They show up when there’s a turn, a change of topography, ambiguity or a decision to be made. Sometimes it seems they are everywhere and sometimes they are nowhere to be found. Today I hunt arrows.
